Facts & Tips:
1. Choosing a consultant to help you through your audio visual systems from the onset can prove to be a valuable investment. Multi-Tech's senior consultant, Don Beasley, specializes in providing people just like you with the knowledge and insight you need. No matter at what level you and your team are operating or what phase of the installation process you are attacking, Don will answer your questions and put you at ease as to what to expect.
2. Using your existing AV equipment in a new building project to try to save some money isn't neccessarily always the best answer. Often times we have witnessed churches trying to do this only to achieve results of major frustration, and usually spending more to "fix" the problems instead of incorporating the proper equipment up front. It's like this...let's say you are buying a new car: a 2009 Model X - you tell the dealer you are going to take all the "good" parts off of your 2003 Model X and use them on your new 2009 in hopes you can save a little money...it usually doesn't work out.
3. What about this new frequency stuff I'm all scared about? Don has recently attened Sennheiser's presentation regarding the new digital frequency reallocation. If you are using a UHF band, there are now some frequencies which are very "crowded" and you may want to consider upgrading your wireless equipment. If you're having any problems, give us a call - we'll be glad to assist you - and help ease your fears. Our number is: 352.636.4106
4. How in the world can I get my volunteer AV team to show up when they're supposed to? You can't! :) Should you still want to try, the best forms of bribery that we have found to work include: coffee, donuts, cookies, twinkies, and Mountain Dew (all complimentary of course.) Try to avoid flat meat sandwiches and/or pizza - it's usually over rated and been over used for such purposes. We make no guarantees that bribery in any form will work! :)
5. When getting ready to install your new media systems - why not look at the cost difference between having a screen and a projector installed compared to just purchasing one piece, being that of a digital flat screen TV with all the connections? This is a great concept for smaller rooms, such as classrooms, to possibly save a little cash and still have the flexability to use it in multiple ways.
6. Are you still trying to produce a massive Christmas production in December then turn right around and tackle the task of an Easter production of epic proportions? Why not consider downsizing both productions - sometimes less is more - and divide your cast and crew in half. One half can concentrate on the Christmas production while the other half concentrates on the Easter production. Just trying to avoid burnout when at all possible.
7. Why didn't the black light work? When using black light, there are a couple of things to consider. 1. Black light works on items which contain the proper pigment to cause them to "glow" under the blacklight only - such as fluorescent paints. 2. "Glow in the dark" items are just that - they glow in the dark. Once they have been hit with the light, they will continue to glow until the effect wears off.
8. Holy smoke! Yes, smoke is and always will be a great effect when used properly. If you want smoke that floats - use a machine which takes a special liquid. If you want low flying fog you'll need a machine that chills the smoke or uses dry ice. If you are looking to produce a textured atmosphere without the big puffs and clouds use a haze machine.
9. Why won't my PAR cans create a leafy texture on my sets? That's because PAR cans for the most part produce a flood or wash effect covering of an area. PAR cans can have color gels added to them which can be changed out to create different moods. There are special stationary and moving light fixtures which use gobos. Gobos are the cool little treasure that create "textures" on sets when lit. Still have questions? For more information don't hesitate to call us. 352.636.4106
